1. Introduction
Orbs Space Game (the “App”) is an astronomy and space-exploration app that lets you browse planets, stars, constellations, galaxies, deep-sky objects and space missions, and observe the night sky through your device. We built the App to work without accounts, logins or personal profiles, and this policy explains what limited information the App uses and how it is handled.
By using the App you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree with this policy, please stop using the App.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not require you to create an account. We do not ask for, collect or store:
- your name, email address, phone number or postal address;
- passwords or login credentials;
- payment or financial information;
- contacts, calendars, messages, health data or files from your device;
- photos or videos from your photo library.
3. Information Used by the App
3.1 Location
With your permission, the App uses your approximate device location to calculate which stars, planets, constellations and sky events are visible from where you are, and to display accurate rise and set times. Location is used on your device for these astronomical calculations. You can refuse the location permission or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services; the App will continue to work, but sky visibility results will be generic rather than tailored to your position.
3.2 Camera
With your permission, the App uses the device camera to show a live view of the sky with an augmented-reality overlay identifying stars and constellations. The camera feed is processed in real time for display only. It is not recorded, not saved to your device by the App, and never transmitted to us or to any third party. You can revoke the camera permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.
3.3 Motion and Device Orientation
The App reads compass and motion-sensor values to know which part of the sky your device is pointed at. These readings are used only while the relevant screen is open and are not stored or shared.
3.4 Data Stored on Your Device
Your preferences, settings, favourites, saved objects and progress through the App are stored locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the App.
3.5 Diagnostics and Usage Analytics
The App uses Google Firebase to collect aggregated, non-identifying diagnostic and usage information — such as app version, device model, operating system version, crash reports and anonymous statistics about which screens are opened. This helps us find bugs and improve the App. It is not used to identify you personally and is not sold or rented to anyone.
4. Summary Table
| Data | Purpose | Leaves your device? |
|---|---|---|
| Approximate location | Sky visibility, rise/set times | No |
| Camera image | Live AR sky overlay | No |
| Motion / compass | Sky orientation | No |
| Settings and favourites | Remembering your choices | No |
| Crash and usage statistics | Stability and improvements | Yes, anonymised |
5. Third-Party Services and Content
The App relies on the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase — anonymous analytics and crash reporting. See the Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Public astronomy and space data sources (such as NASA open data services) — used to display images, mission information, space weather and daily astronomy content. When the App requests this content, the request contains no personal information about you.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is intended to be safe for a general audience, including families and students. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personal data or offer user-to-user communication, no personal profile of a child is created. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Data Security and Retention
Information stored locally is protected by the security features of your device and its operating system. Network requests made by the App use encrypted HTTPS connections. Because we do not maintain personal accounts, we do not retain personal data on our servers. Anonymous diagnostic data is retained only for as long as needed to analyse and improve the App.
8. Your Rights and Choices
- You may grant or deny the location and camera permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
- You may reset your preferences and saved items from within the App’s settings.
- You may delete the App, which removes all locally stored data.
- Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information relating to you. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable period.
We do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes.
9. International Users
The App may be used worldwide. Anonymous diagnostic data may be processed on servers operated by our service providers in other countries, which may have different data-protection laws. By using the App you consent to such processing.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we add new features. The revised version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes are published means you accept the updated policy.
